Tools and Hardware Reviews of Zircon 58052 StudSensor Pro SL Wood and Metal Stud SensorCustomer Review: Very frustrating Summary: 1 StarsI have the Zircon Studsensor Pro SL. Most of the time, as soon as you move it it will start beeping (means it needs to reset). Its very frustrating to work with.
If you like products that make you want to throw them at a wall, this is the sensor for you.
Description of Zircon 58052 StudSensor Pro SL Wood and Metal Stud SensorStudSensor Pro SL quickly and easily locates the edges of wood and metal studs and joists behind walls, floors, and ceilings. The patented SpotLite Pointing System shines a beam of light on the wall to identify the target. FEATURES: Stud Scan mode locates the edges of wood or metal studs up to 3/4-Inch (19 mm) deep - DeepScan mode doubles the scanning depth to 1 1/2-Inch (38 mm) - Red LEDs light up every time a stud edge is approached - Patented SpotLite Pointing System, an audio alert, and a green LED signals when the stud edge is reached - Should scanning begin over a stud, Zircon's patented "over-the-stud" indicator alerts the user to start the scan in a new location - Patented TruCal technology calibrates to any wall's density and a steady green LED TruCal light alerts the user when the tool is ready and calibrated. If you've ever tried locating studs by pounding a hammer against the wall or making exploratory holes, you know how inexact a science that is. The Zircon Studsensor Pro SL eliminates the guesswork and makes it easy to find wall studs (wood or metal), floor joists, and ceiling beams through drywall and most bare-wood flooring up to 1-1/2 inches thick. All you do is move the unit across the surface you want to scan. When it reaches a stud edge, the Studsensor lets you know by projecting a beam of light onto the surface. An audio signal and LED display are also provided. --Carl Thress
